Welcome!

Saint George Cathedral is a historic parish of Slavic tradition, founded in 1915.  Services are held in both Church Slavonic and English. Caring for the needs of Eastern European immigrants and their descendants in the heart of Chicago, our vibrant congregation is a harmonious mix of immigrant and native, young and old, heritage Orthodox and convert. There is room for everyone, and all visitors are welcome!

What is the Orthodox Church?

“The Orthodox Christian Church is evangelical, but not Protestant.
It is orthodox, but not Jewish. It is catholic, but not Roman.
It is not denominational, it is pre-denominational.
It has believed, taught, preserved, defended, and died for the
Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost nearly 2,000 years ago.”
